Among the island’s iconic beaches: Les Salines (Sainte-Anne)a long stretch of white sand lined with coconut palms.

In the north, nord, the volcanic area of Mount Pelée et des and the Pitons du Carbet (a UNESCO World Heritage site) with rainforests, waterfalls and scenic viewpoints. In theeast, the Caravelle Peninsula protects mangroves and cliffs, with marked hiking trails. In the south of Atlantic, the Trace des Caps runs along capes and beaches for 34 km.

Fort-de-France (market, cathedral, street art), Saint-Pierre and its 1902 heritage, maritime traditions (yole sailing), music and festivals. Gardens and museums enrich the visits, including the Balata garden (canopy walkways).

When to go
Two seasons: dry season (December → May), drier; wet season (June to November), hotter and more humid. The island can be visited year-round; many travelers prefer December to May for drier conditions. Temperatures remain stable around 28 °C (82 °F).

Les Anses-d’Arlet & Grande Anse
A fishing village on the southwest coast, Les Anses-d’Arlet is home to several renowned beaches: Grande Anse, Anse Dufour, Anse Noire. Grande Anse is lively (especially on weekends), known for its sunsets, yacht anchorage, and beachfront restaurants. Anse Dufour/Anse Noire two neighboring coves, one with golden sand and the other with black sand.
Swimming, Snorkeling & Boat Trips
Easy access from the shore; observation respectfull of turtles grazing on the seagrass (do not touch, keep your distance). Coastal excursions are also available to nearby coves and the Diamond Rockwith wildlife sightings depending on the season and conditions, offered by local operators.
Walks & Nature
Around Grande Anseshort trails leading to Cap Salomon (through the forest, with scenic viewpoints) and underwater trail marked out to explore seagrass beds and rocky areas with fins and mask.
